A budget for a specific boarding option
Dutch school fees vary. Day-school tuition alone should not be compared directly with tuition and accommodation for a child moving without their parents.
The following figures use Eerde’s 2026–2027 fee booklet. They describe this school’s basic full-boarding costs, not a national average.

What is payable in the first year?
The one-time secondary registration fee is €3,650 and includes a MacBook. The boarding deposit is €2,750, refundable at the end of boarding under the school’s conditions.
Adding those two items gives a first-year basic payment of €64,300 for Middle School or €68,000 for IGCSE / IBDP. A refundable deposit is distinct from an expense that is permanently incurred.
The useful comparison is between the recurring annual tuition and boarding amount, and the basic cash payment required in the first year.
What does full boarding include?
Tuition covers lessons and the learning resources, lunches and other items listed by the school. Full boarding includes term-time weekends, accommodation, applicable meals, laundry, boarding supervision, activities and evening study arrangements.
Examinations, private tuition and some additional activities are charged separately. Where a student needs individual language or academic support, establish the charges before enrolment.
The school lists autumn, Christmas, spring, Easter and summer holidays as boarding closures. Travel and accommodation during those periods should not be assumed to fall within the boarding fee.
Is the Netherlands necessarily cheaper than Switzerland?
The meaningful comparison is with a particular Swiss school offering a similar year group and boarding arrangement. Comparing Dutch day tuition with Swiss boarding costs does not help a family needing accommodation.
Course fit also matters. A slightly lower price may not be good value if the child cannot make a workable transition into the programme.
Common questions
Is €61,600 the entire first-year cost?
No. It is one year’s IGCSE / IBDP tuition plus full boarding.
Is the deposit part of tuition?
No. It is a separate boarding deposit, refundable under the school’s conditions.
Should an expected scholarship be deducted from the budget?
Only after the school has confirmed it for the individual student.
