Why work with James Liu and LEP? Scholarships, career connections and long-term planning
| Author: James Liu | Lux Education Partners |
What should a family gain from working with us? In the near term, help pursuing scholarships and completing school applications. After graduation, connections with local businesses and relevant employment recommendations. Over the longer term, an education choice considered in the context of countries, industries and the family’s plans.
This work draws on my experience running businesses in Europe and the relationships I maintain with schools, employers and local communities.
Based in Europe, with a cross-country view of studying in Switzerland
We are a Europe-based business, and we assess Swiss education with a perspective spanning several countries.
I live and operate businesses in Luxembourg. From this home base, we provide education services for Luxembourg, Switzerland and the Netherlands, connecting school choices with European industries, businesses and local networks.
I consider countries’ industry strengths, talent needs, employment conditions and development opportunities together. Where is the right place to study? Where does the student’s intended industry offer opportunities? What preparation is needed in languages, internships and further study?
For families, this means understanding how Switzerland fits into a child’s wider plans before choosing it. We connect education, industry choices and employment preparation through a broader European perspective.
Local business experience, education services across countries and sustained relationships underpin our judgment.
1. The immediate benefit: pursuing scholarships with the school
Lux Education Partners is a formal representative partner of IMI. For applications through LEP, we work to secure applicable representative privileges and actively pursue additional scholarships with the school.
Repeated application work and ongoing school communication build knowledge that goes beyond reading an admissions page once: what student backgrounds a school values, which experiences deserve emphasis, how to present supporting material and when to discuss an application.
We organise the student’s academic record, language skills, practical experience, motivation and intended subject, identify strengths relevant to the school’s educational goals, communicate directly with the school and follow up on scholarship proposals.
For the family, this should lead to a clear account of the concessions obtained, the study periods they cover and the remaining amount payable. We coordinate scholarship applications with intake dates, documents and payment planning.
2. Employment recommendations after graduation are central to our work
I am a business owner with long-standing operations in Luxembourg and Switzerland. My relationships with local entrepreneurs, family offices, hotel groups and banking executives involve repeated face-to-face contact. Connecting students with local businesses is part of my work each year.
A graduate needs more than the address of a job board. They need to understand how an industry operates locally, what employers want and how relevant employers can learn about their abilities.
LEP connects students, schools and local businesses. We maintain a network, information and resources built through actual relationships, and provide employment recommendations and introductions where a student’s profile fits an opportunity.
A useful recommendation explains what a student has studied and done, their strengths and why an employer should get to know them. That requires understanding both the student and the business.
An individual school application addresses admission. The relationships we build through business activity in Europe also extend to employers and career opportunities beyond school. They develop through repeated meetings, cooperation and accumulated trust.
3. Long-term judgment: seeing individual development through countries and industries
When visiting a school, people may first consider its campus, ranking and accommodation. I also look outward: which industries does it connect with, where does the student want to develop a career, and how could their skills be used in that market?
I bring the perspectives of a business owner, a cross-border resident and a parent. My child attends an international school in Luxembourg, and I follow markets including Switzerland, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and the UK.
A country’s industries, employers’ needs and a family’s circumstances affect the value of an educational route. A student planning to return to a family restaurant business may need different courses and internships from one planning a master’s degree followed by an international career.
A wider view must translate into concrete choices: changing industries, relevant businesses, required languages and skills, and preparation for further-study and work eligibility.
I work back from where a family hopes their child will be in ten years. That is also how I assess IMI: beyond its buildings, I consider courses, research training, paid internships, postgraduate options and actual expenditure.
4. A cycle that benefits students, schools and employers
My relationships with schools and employers are long-term collaborations in which each party needs the others.
Schools need good students who are suited to their programmes and build the school’s reputation through their development. Businesses need capable people, so we must understand roles and make relevant recommendations. We need successful student examples: good performance earns trust from schools, employers and families.
Student development → recognition by schools and employers → trust in our recommendations → deeper cooperation, information and opportunities → support for the next suitable students.
This is why students’ progress after graduation matters to our reputation and our long-term business.
5. No school application service fee in 2026–2027
In 2026–2027, LEP charges no school application service fee for applications it handles to its partner institutions.
We help with course selection, school communication, application preparation and pursuing applicable representative privileges and scholarships. Tuition, school registration fees and third-party charges such as visas and translation are separate. Any charge for another specialist service is explained in advance.
Tell me about the student’s current studies, English, family circumstances and intended direction. That is where our discussion begins.
What matters to me is the child’s long-term development, not simply completing an application form.
